Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events impacted the area, bringing powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Extensive Damage
Residents witnessed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams working to handle the widespread outages.
Victorian Weather Woes
Meanwhile, around one thousand residents in the southern state also experienced energy failures after Melbourne saw its most precipitation in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across different parts of both regions.
